IASB and Japan continue convergence discussions

Representatives of the Accounting Standards Board of Japan (ASBJ) and the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) held their third joint convergence meeting on 1 and 2 March 2006 in Tokyo.

The aim of these ongoing discussions is to achieve convergence of Japanese GAAP and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRSs). The IASB was represented by four Board members, including Chairman Sir David Tweedie, and staff. The ASBJ was represented by four Board members, including Chairman Professor Shizuki Saito, and staff.
