At its meeting on October 22, 2015 with the Auditing and Assurance Standards Oversight Council, the AASB reviewed comments received on its Exposure Draft of proposed Canadian Standard on Association (CSOA) 5000, Association. The AASB also received input through staff-led consultations with stakeholders. Issues raised by respondents and discussed by the AASB included:

• concerns regarding the proposed scope — specifically that it was not clear enough and possibly too narrow;
• application material is necessary to help users understand certain requirements; and
• requirements dealing with intervening period events may be overly onerous for simple engagements.

The AASB will continue to discuss these issues at future meetings.
