At its meeting on December 13-15, 2022, the IASB met to discuss whether and how to clarify the requirements in IAS 32 for the presentation of an entity’s issued financial instruments. The Board discussed concerns raised by stakeholders (a) relating to the information an entity provides in its financial statements about the equity instruments it has issued being too limited; and (b) relating to an entity’s treatment of a subset of financial liabilities if the financial liabilities are measured at fair value through profit or loss in accordance with the requirements in IFRS 9. The IASB will continue to discuss the presentation of equity instruments in addition to other topics set out in the project plan.

At its meeting on December 13-15, 2022, the IASB met to redeliberate the proposals in its Exposure Draft relating to: (a) the inflation adjustments to an entity’s regulatory capital base; and (b) the accounting for allowable expenses or performance incentives included in an entity’s regulatory capital base. The Board also discussed advice from the Consultative Group for Rate Regulation and the use of the direct (no direct) relationship concept in the IASB’s redeliberations of the proposed model. The IASB made tentative decisions related to (a) and (b).  The IASB will continue to redeliberate the project proposals at future meetings.

At its meeting on December 13-15, 2022, the IASB met to continue its discussions of application questions on the equity method as set out in IAS 28, specifically relating to (a) applying the preferred . approach after the purchase of an additional interest in an associate; (b) purchase of additional interest in an associate and share of unrecognized losses; and (c) recognition of losses and components of comprehensive income. Following its discussions, the IASB made tentative decisions with respect each of (a), (b) and (c). The IASB will continue its discussions on application questions within the scope of the project at future meetings.

At its meeting on December 13-15, 2022, the IASB met to discuss how the project should proceed, including related to the following issues: (a) assessing exchangeability between two currencies; (b)  determining the spot exchange rate when exchangeability is lacking; and (c) disclosure and transition. Following its discussions, the IASB made tentative decisions with respect each of (a), (b) and (c). The IASB will discuss effective date and due process steps at a future meeting.
