On July 15, 2015, the Canadian Public Accountability Board (CPAB) released a thought provoking discussion paper on the relevance of external auditing in the future.

This paper, dated June 2, 2015, provides some thoughts from Jim Goodfellow on the future of external auditing, which are drawn from his experience as an auditor, corporate director, audit committee member and chair, and from the presentations, discussions and participant feedback obtained at the last three CPAB Auditing Quality Symposiums where he acted as a co-moderator. Jim is a retired partner from Deloitte.
