Q3 2018 Canadian IPO Market Review: IPO market in a holding pattern

Q3 saw subdued IPO volume trends continue in Canada, with only one new issuer completing its IPO during the quarter. South of the border, the story was very different: IPO markets saw the busiest August since 2013, with 10 IPOs being priced. Part of the reason Canadian IPO volumes have been muted in 2018 is due to the underperformance of resource-related sectors and, consequently, the lack of new names in those sectors coming to the public markets.
