Canadian Tax Alert: COVID-19 – Update on the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS)

Over the week-end, the federal government enacted legislation providing for the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS), an important support measure to help preserve employment in Canada in light of COVID-19. The legislation enacts a landmark stimulus program focused on retaining jobs across all economic sectors. This legislation included several new provisions and clarifications that have now provided guidance surrounding a number of previously ambiguous program mechanics.
