Attached is our most recent Canadian Tax Alert providing updates announced today by the federal government on the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS), Canada Summer Jobs and the Canada Emergency Business Account. Of note, the government is encouraging eligible employers to rehire employees as quickly as possible and to apply for the CEWS. The government is expected to implement an approach to limit duplication with the Canada Emergency Relief Benefit (CERB) and this could include a process to allow individuals rehired by their employer to cancel their CERB claim.
