This event launches the Wates Corporate Governance Principles for Large Private Companies. The government introduced legislation in June 2018 requiring all large private companies to include a statement in their annual reports on whether the company follows a code of corporate governance. This will come into effect for companies’ reporting period starting on or after 1 January 2019. Companies may voluntarily adopt the Wates Corporate Governance Principles for Large Private Companies and meet the requirements set out in the legislation.

The event will include speeches from a government minister and James Wates, followed by a panel discussion and a short Q&A session.

Further details on how to register can be found on the FRC website.

In 2017, the Government announced its intention to introduce a new corporate governance reporting requirement for large private companies.
