ESMA will focus on strengthening the supervisory convergence in the accounting area in 2016

The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) has published its work programme for 2016.
In 2016, ESMA will increase supervisory convergence in the area of financial reporting by ensuring the implementation of the ESMA guidelines on enforcement of financial information. Key deliverables on a budget of €793,559 will be:
- Publications of extracts of enforcement decisions (Q2 2016 and Q4 2016),
- Publication of an activity report of the European Enforcers Co-ordination Sessions (EECS) (Q2 2016),
- Analysis of European common enforcement priorities (Q3 2016), and
- Study of an accounting topic (to be confirmed) (Q4 2016).
