GPF seeks members

The Global Preparers Forum (GPF) is seeking new members with an emphasis for candidates from emerging economies.

The closing date for applications is 30 September 2022. New members will start on 1 November 2022 for a term lasting between two to five years. For more information, see the press release on the IFRS Foundation website.

September 2022 IFRS Interpretations Committee meeting agenda posted

The IFRS Interpretations Committee has posted the agenda for its next meeting, which will be held on 13 September 2022.

The Committee will discuss the following:

  • IFRS 17 and IAS 21 — Multi-currency groups of insurance contracts
  • Special Purpose Acquisition Companies (SPAC) — Accounting for warrants at acquisition
  • IFRS 9 and IFRS 16 — Lessor forgiveness of lease payments
  • Amendments to IAS 21 — Lack of exchangeability
  • Matters reported to the IASB
  • Work in progress

Webinar on the feedback request on a future IFRS sustainability disclosure taxonomy for digital reporting

In May 2022, the staff of the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) aked for feedback that would inform the development of a taxonomy to enable digital consumption of sustainability disclosures prepared using the ISSB's IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards.

The staff now offers a webinar to explain in more detail the request, which is out for comment until 30 September 2022.

For the convenience of stakeholders in different time zones, there will be two sessions of the webinar on 12 September 2022, at 09:00 BST and at 17:00 BST.

FRC Lab publishes report on ESG data production

The Financial Reporting Council (FRC) has published a Lab report on ESG data production

This report is designed to help companies consider how to collect and use ESG data more effectively to support better decision-making.

The report sets out the three elements of ESG data production identified by the FRC: motivation, method and meaning.

The FRC believes it is clear the current data landscape is a complex one with challenges. Their report outlines some suggested actions to address these challenges as well as how they think Boards can optimise how ESG data is collected and applied.

EFRAG to hold September Sustainability Reporting Board Meeting

The European Financial Reporting Advisory Group (EFRAG) has announced that it will hold its Sustainability Reporting Board meeting on 2 September 2022.

The meeting will be open for duly registered observers from 08:15 to 10:00 (CET).

The Sustainability Reporting Board will discuss:

  • Alignment with GRI
  • Materiality approach

BEIS appoints first permanent Chairman of the UKEB

The Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) has announced that Pauline Wallace has been appointed as the first permanent Chairman of the UK Endorsement Board.

Pauline Wallace has held the role of Chairman on an interim basis since September 2020, leading the establishment of the inaugural Board and the adoption of IFRS 17 Insurance Contracts.
