SEC appoints new director in its trading and markets division

Today, the SEC has named Stephen Luparello as the director in charge of the SEC’s Division of Trading and Markets. Mr. Luparello will succeed John Ramsey, who will be leaving the SEC next month.

Mr. Luparello’s background includes working as a partner in the law firm of WilmerHale, where he focused on broker-dealer compliance and regulation, securities litigation, and enforcement. Before joining WilmerHale, he served as vice chairman at the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority.
