During its July 2014 meeting, the IFRS Foundation Trustees approved an amendment to the secondary objective of the IFRS Advisory Council’s terms of reference to address a shift in focus from promotion and adoption of IFRSs to one that encourages board participation in IFRS development.

Previously, the terms of reference were discussed during the IFRS Advisory Council meeting held on June 9–10, 2014, when the council members recommended a change to the secondary objective to clear any misconceptions regarding its independence and objectivity.
