Hot Topics — SEC releases final compensation committee independence rulings (August 2012)

Recently, the compensation committee adopted a final rule directing the national securities exchanges to adopt certain listing standards related to the independence of the compensation committee. The rule also provides six criteria the compensation committee should consider when evaluating the independence of compensation committee advisers.
