This privacy statement explains what information we gather about you, what we use that information for and who we give that information to. It also sets out your rights in relation to your information and who you can contact for more information or queries.

Who does this Privacy Statement apply to and what does it cover?

This Privacy Statement applies to the iasplus.com website (“this Website”). This privacy statement sets out how we will collect, handle, store and protect information about you when:

  • you use this Website or
  • performing any other activities that form part of the operation of our business.  

This Privacy Statement also contains information about when we share your information with other members of the Deloitte Network and other third parties (for example, our service providers). As used in this Privacy Statement, “Deloitte Network” refers to Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited, a UK private company limited by guarantee (“DTTL”), its network of member firms and their related entities.

In this privacy statement, your information is sometimes called “personal data” or “personal information”. We may also sometimes collectively refer to handling, collecting, protecting and storing your personal information as “processing” such personal information. We are not subject to the requirements of the California Consumer Privacy Act.

What information do we collect?

As a visitor, you do not have to submit any personal information in order to use this Website. We may collect personal information if you register to create an account on this Website. Such information may consist of, but is not limited to, your name, current job title, company address, email address and telephone number.

We may also collect or obtain personal information from you because we observe or infer that data about you from the way you interact with us or others. For example, to improve your experience when you use this Website and ensure that it is functioning effectively, we (or our service providers) may use cookies (small text files stored in a user’s browser) and Web beacons which may collect personal information. We understand the importance of protecting children's privacy. This Website is not designed for, or intentionally targeted at, children. It is not our policy to intentionally collect or store information about children.

How we use information about you

Use of personal information to allow us to manage our relationship with you

  • We will use the personal information you provide us to create a personal profile that will facilitating you
    • registering to gain access to premium content
    • responding to a survey offered by us
    • requesting future communications from us about specific area of interest
    • reaching out to us with requests or inquiries

To the extent permitted by applicable local data protection and privacy laws and subject to strict application of this Privacy Statement, we may also use your personal information for marketing purposes or to send you promotional materials or communications regarding events, publications and issues that we believe may be of interest to you.

Use of personal information for Website Administration and Improvement

In order to make sure this Website operates efficiently and as intended, we may also use your personal information collected via this Website to:

  • manage and improve the Website
  • tailor the content on this Website to provide you with a more personalized experience and draw your attention to information that may be of interest to you
  • perform general statistical research, analysis and reporting activities, including visitor activity and demographic reports

In addition to the purposes connected to the operation of this Website above, we may use your personal information for the purposes of, or in connection with:

The legal grounds we use for processing personal information

We are required by law to set out in this privacy statement the legal grounds on which we rely in order to process your personal information.

We may use your personal information for the purposes outlined above because: (a) we have a legitimate interest in building and managing our relationship with you; (b) the information is needed in order to provide you with the information that you have indicated you are interested in receiving or (c) we are subject to legal or regulatory obligations, such as providing information to a public body or law enforcement agency.

Where we are legally required to obtain your explicit consent to provide you with certain marketing materials, we will only provide you with such marketing materials where we have obtained such consent from you. If you do not want to continue receiving any marketing materials from us, you can click on the unsubscribe function in the communication or e-mail.  

To whom we disclose your information

In connection with one or more of the purposes outlined in the “How do we use information about you?” section above, we may disclose details about you to:

  • other members of the Deloitte Network
  • third parties that provide services to us and/or the Deloitte Network, such as website and system hosting, management and support
  • competent authorities, including courts and authorities regulating us or another member of the Deloitte Network, in each case to comply with legal or regulatory obligations or requests
  • as part of a corporate transaction, such as a sale, divestiture, reorganization, merger or acquisition.

Please note that some of the recipients of your personal information referenced above may be based in countries or regions without data protection rules similar to those in effect in your area of residence. In such cases, we will ensure that there are adequate safeguards in place to protect your personal information. The adequate safeguard might be a data transfer agreement with the recipient based on standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission for transfers of personal information to third countries.

We may share non-personal, de-identified and aggregated information with third parties for several purposes, including data analytics, research, submissions, thought leadership and promotional purposes.

Protection of your personal information

We have in place reasonable commercial standards of technology and operational security to protect all personal information provided by individuals from loss, misuse and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration or destruction.

How long do we keep your information?

We retain personal information as long as is necessary for the fulfillment of the purposes identified above in the “How do we use information about you?” section or as otherwise necessary to comply with applicable laws. Where personal information is no longer necessary or relevant for our identified purposes or where you have indicated that you no longer are interested in staying in contact with us, we will securely dispose of your personal information.

Your rights

You may update or delete your registration details via IFRS e-Learning by clicking on the icon on the IAS Plus home page or the 'Delete my registration details' button on the IFRS e-Learning registration page.

In addition, you may have various rights in relation to your personal information. In particular, you have a right to:

  • obtain confirmation that we are processing your personal information and request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
  • ask that we update the personal information we hold about you, or correct such personal information that you think is incorrect or incomplete
  • ask that we delete personal information that we hold about you, or restrict the way in which we use such personal information
  • object to our processing of your personal information.

Right to complain

If you are unhappy with the way we have handled your personal information or any privacy query or request that you have raised with us, you have a right to complain to the EU Data Protection Authority (“DPA”) in your jurisdiction. If you would like to be directed to the appropriate DPA, please contact the site administrator at iasplus@deloitte.com.

Changes to this Privacy Statement

We may modify or amend this Privacy Statement from time to time at our discretion. When we make changes to this statement, we will amend the revision date at the top of this page and such modified or amended privacy statement shall be effective as to you and your information as of that revision date. We encourage you to review this Privacy Statement periodically to be informed about how we are protecting your personal information.
