New FASB Chairman Announced

Yesterday, the Board of Trustees of the Financial Accounting Foundation (FAF), the FASB’s oversight body, appointed Leslie F. Seidman chairman of the FASB, effectively immediately. Ms. Seidman has been acting chairman of the FASB since Robert H. Herz retired from the Board on September 30, 2010.

In August 2010, the Board of Trustees of the FAF announced that the FASB would expand from five to seven members. It indicated yesterday that that it expects to appoint the two additional Board members in early 2011.
