AICPA Issues TPAs on Certain Accounting and Disclosure Topics Related to Financial Statements for Health and Welfare Plans
Last week, the AICPA published five nonauthoritative technical practice aids (TPAs) addressing certain practice questions related to financial statements for health and welfare plans concerning the accounting and disclosures on reimbursements received from the government from the Early Retiree Reinsurance Program (ERRP).
The ERRP was established by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act in March 2010 to provide financial assistance to various types of plan sponsors to help them maintain coverage for early retirees that are not yet eligible for Medicare. The TPAs are contained in paragraphs 6931.13–.17 of TIS Section 6931, Financial Statement Reporting and Disclosure — Employee Benefit Plans.
