Amendments to the Classification and Measurement of Financial Instruments – International Accounting Standards Board
The IASB met on February 21, 2024, to evaluate feedback on the proposed amendments to the Classification and Measurement of Financial Instruments in IFRS 9 and IFRS 7. They deliberated on aspects like prospective disclosure requirements concerning contractual cash flows, the proposed effective date and transition requirements, due process steps, and disclosure requirements for subsidiaries without public accountability. In terms of disclosure requirements related to contractual cash flows, the IASB decided to finalize the proposed requirements, with modifications to limit requirements to contractual terms contingent on events unrelated to changes in basic lending risks or costs. They also decided to allow entities to disclose information other than the range of possible adjustments to contractual cash flows. This decision was unanimously supported by all IASB members.
