EFRAG, EFFAS, ABAF/BVFA, and IASB to host joint outreach event on FICE in Brussels

The European Financial Reporting Advisory Group (EFRAG), the European Federation of Financial Analysts Societies (EFFAS), the Association Belge des Analystes Financiers (ABAF/BVFA), and the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) will host a joint outreach event on 26 November in Brussels on the IASB’s Discussion Paper ‘Financial Instruments With Characteristics of Equity’.
On 18 June 2018, the IASB published discussion paper DP/2018/1 Financial Instruments with Characteristics of Equity which defines the principles for the classification of financial liabilities and equity instruments without, however, fundamentally changing the existing classification outcomes of IAS 32.
The outreach event will include discussions on the EFRAG and EFFAS preliminary views on the discussion paper and is primarily directed towards users of financial statements.
