The EFRAG has issued a summary report on a joint outreach event co-hosted by the European Federation of Financial Analysts Societies (EFFAS), the Norwegian Society of Financial Analysts (NFF) and the Norwegian Accounting Standard Board (NASB) on 15 June 2017.

The outreach event focused on the IASB discussion paper DP/2017/1 Disclosure Initiative — Principles of Disclosure and provided participants an opportunity to express their concerns and provide input. In particular, participants expressed the following views:

  • Annual reports are an important source of information.
  • Relevant information is often difficult to find or understand.
  • “[T]he principles in the ESMA Guidelines on Alternative Performance Measures could be extended to Alternative Performance Measures (APMs) presented within the financial statements to increase transparency on their use.”
  • An evaluation should be performed by the IASB on the impact of technology on presentation of disclosures.
  • Financial statements need more standardisation in its structure and content.
